*Thanks to Turning Point USA for sponsoring the Hackathon this year!

Plan to take part in the 2016 Idea Hackathon, where participants compete for prizes by pitching their ideas to solve problems facing the world today.

In the Steamboat spirit, we are looking for solutions that highlight freedom and how life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness can change the world.

The Idea Hackathon will take place in the Festival Tent.

Pick A Topic:

On Friday, in the Freedom Festival Tent, you’ll see a large board covered with sticky notes. Each note has a topic on it. Pick the one you’d like to discuss. If you’d like to pitch on another topic, just write it down when you sign-up. Keep it clean though – we reserve the right to reject inappropriate topics. If others are interested in pitching on the same topic, you can join up as a team.

Sign Up:

Fill out the sign-up sheet in the Freedom Festival Tent. You’ll need to pick a time, topic and indicate if you have any technical requirements (for instance, if you plan to use PowerPoint and need an adapter for the screens). It’s first-come, first-served for the limited number of pitch times.

Take time Friday afternoon and evening to research, refine and make your pitch awesome.

On Saturday morning, each participant will give a 5 minute pitch for their idea to solve the problem they selected, followed by 5 minutes of Q&A from our judges. A slate of celebrity judges — and the audience — will choose the winner.

The winner will attend the Freedom Conference closing luncheon at the Steamboat Grand and will present their idea to the audience in the ballroom — plus win a cash prize.

All participants will receive official recognition for being a part of the Idea Hackathon.
