Emily Norcross

Ms. Emily Norcross became a founding member of Steamboat Institute’s Emerging Leaders Advisory Council in 2016. A Denver County resident since 2014, Ms. Norcross is the Co-Organizer of Young & Active Conservatives of Denver, a grassroots organization designed to engage young adults in conservative conversations and political processes while bridging relationships with established political communities and engagement opportunities in the Denver metro area.

Ms. Norcross is a division director for a locally-headquartered emergency management consulting firm where she serves as a senior strategic communications and emergency management policy expert and trainer for military, government and private sector clients throughout the United States and internationally. Her article exploring the role of technology in countering virtual Islamist extremism was recently published in Innovation & Tech Today magazine.

Formerly the Deputy Public Information Officer for the Indiana Department of Homeland Security, Ms. Norcross led statewide emergency public information efforts during 15 state emergencies, including 3 federally declared major disasters. Following Superstorm Sandy, she supported public outreach and communications efforts with the New Jersey Governor’s Office of Recovery and Rebuilding.

Prior to beginning her professional career, Ms. Norcross led student outreach efforts for a local election campaign and served her alma mater, Franklin College, as a student congress committee chair. In 2007, she attended U.S. Marine Corps Officer Candidate School in Quantico, VA.
