Khristine Brookes

Khristine Brookes helps coordinate outreach to the news media and other external audiences, as well as assisting with shaping the organization’s online presence.

Prior to joining the Steamboat Institute in 2023, Brookes spent 14 years as Vice President for Communications at the Cato Institute, overseeing media relations as well as government affairs and multimedia production. From 1998 to 2008, Brookes worked in broadcast and media relations at the Heritage Foundation. She served as communications director for two members of Congress from 1995 to 1999. When Brookes first came to Washington in 1991, she worked as a public relations assistant at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration at the Department of Commerce.

Brookes is a graduate of the University of Idaho with a BS in communications and political science.
