“Tony’s legacy of intersecting humor, intellect, and civility is one that will always endure. Still, it has rarely been more important than today. Receiving the fellowship in 2014 was more than a huge opportunity for me, it was a semi-salvation. At the time I was earning my keep as a waiter, earning $50-$100 from the occasional freelance article. The stipend and connections offered by the fellowship allowed me to push on and secure my career in journalism. I hope you apply and find yourself with equally special new opportunities!”
