Colorado Conservative: Equality Group Says Churches Who Don’t Support Same Sex Marriage Should Lose Tax Exempt Status

April 2, 2015

width= In the midst of a national argument of religious freedom laws, Colorado Conservative reports that the Chairman of Wyoming Equality has called for churches to lose their tax-exempt status if they do not support same-sex marriage. Reasonable people can disagree on this matter, but attempting to hurt churches and silence opinions is not the answer. This is precisely what many have been afraid for years — and it’s hard to say how many more individuals will make this same argument down the road. In a Facebook post, Jeran Artery wrote:
“Churches that lobby to have freedoms and rights taken away from ANYONE should absolutely have their 501(c)3 status revoked!!”
As Colorado Conservative wrote:
Talk about tolerance, freedom of speech, and religious freedom. Disagree with Artery’s views of same sex marriage and your church will be shut down. Gone are the days of pluralism. This is what tyranny looks like.
Are you ready for churches to lose their tax-exempt status for staying true to their principles? If not, let’s make sure Ms. Artery doesn’t get away with this.
