The Steamboat Institute Announces Carine Hajjar as New Steamboat Institute Fellow

August 12, 2025

Beaver Creek, CO: The Steamboat Institute is proud to announce that Carine Hajjar, an opinion writer and editorial board member at The Boston Globe, has been named the 2025 Steamboat Institute Fellow for Public Policy and American Exceptionalism. This prestigious fellowship, created to honor the legacy of the late journalist Tony Blankley, will be officially awarded at the Steamboat Institute’s 17th Annual Freedom Conference, taking place on August 22-23, 2025, at the Park Hyatt Resort in Beaver Creek, Colorado.

The Steamboat Institute Fellowship is designed to support and nurture the careers of outstanding young journalists and emerging conservative thought leaders who embody the principles and values championed by The Steamboat Institute:  limited government, limited taxation and fiscal responsibility, free market capitalism, individual rights and responsibilities, and strong national defense.

Prior to her work at The Boston Globe, Carine completed the highly competitive Joseph Rago Memorial Fellowship for Excellence in Journalism at The Wall Street Journal Editorial Board, where she edited op-eds and reported on immigration, crime, and the 2022 Nevada midterm elections. Her bylines have also appeared in National Review, where she covered higher education, southern border policy from Del Rio, Texas, and the Vienna nuclear negotiations with Iran.

Carine began her career in public policy as a defense intern for Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR). She is a 2021 graduate of Harvard College, where she earned her degree in government and economics, chaired the Harvard Kennedy School Institute of Politics’ Fellows and Study Groups Program, and was a founding leader of the university’s Conservative Coalition.

“I’m honored to represent the Steamboat Institute and Tony Blankley’s legacy. Steamboat’s commitment to uplifting American exceptionalism is more important than ever and I’m grateful to be a part of this work.”

Carine Hajjar
